The Field Monitoring & Enforcement Officer of the Ogun State Signage and Advertisements Agency (OGSAA), Mr. Bolaji Banjoko and other Advertisements Agency staff, were attacked on Saturday, December 1, 2018, by political thugs loyal to the Ogun State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka.
They were attacked while on official duty in Abeokuta along the Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard.
The ADC had deployed A Frame boards and other hoardings on the Boulevard and many other locations within Abeokuta without permit or payment to OGSAA.
The OGSAA officials were enforcing the removal of the illegal boards when they were attacked by the ADC band of thugs in the presence of Mr. Isiaka.
OGSAA is empowered by the Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency Law of 2008 to monitor and enforce regulations concerning outdoor advertisements, including political campaigns.
In a radio and television advertisements, the Agency had earlier drew the attention of advertisers to the rules guiding the placement of short campaigns and political advertisements in Ogun State where it warned that it will not permit political campaigns and other short campaigns on unapproved hoardings without due permit and payment to state covers.
