NINE YEARS AFTER: DAPO ABIODUN WILL GIVE A BEFITTING RECOGNITION TO DIPO DINA
- APC

On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of his assassination, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State, fondly remembers Prince Dipo Dina, aka “DD Direct”; a dogged fighter for Justice, fairness, transparency and accountability in government.

A loyal party man, financier and astute mobilizer, DIPO Dina fearlessly advocated for prudence and accountability in governance and participatory democracy founded on welfare of the common man and woman, a cause he lived and died for.

Despite his enormous wealth, he joined politics to uplift the masses. He ran for  House of Representatives  on the platform of the then Alliance for Democracy [AD] in Ijebu Central  Federal Constituency, in the 2003 polls. He also contested for the governorship of the state under the banner of the Action Congress at the 2007 polls, the results of which he challenged at the Elections Petitions Tribunal.

He set up the Dipo Dina Movement  with which  he  empowered the masses, his followers and party members. He ran advertorials in the newspapers as the Movement began to give details of alleged mismanagement and looting of public funds by the then state government. He was harassed, arrested, and detained over the activities of the Dipa Dina Movement, and he and few of his supporters once spent the Christmas holidays in detention with criminals.

Unfortunately,  issues that Dipo Dina stood and died for continue to stare us in the face today. And one of the immediate ways to ensure he did not die in vain it to have a listening government that will place priority on the general comfort of the Ogun people as against personal or family pecuniary considerations.

The APC in Ogun State believes that, for his enormous contributions to progressive politics in Ogun State and the course of people oriented governance for which he not only spent his personal resources, but also paid the ultimate price with his life, Dipo Dina is yet to be appropriately recognized. It is therefore our commitment that when elected, the  APC administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun will give a proper and befitting recognition to the late martyr.

We pray that the good and lively soul  of  “DD Direct” will continue to Rest In Peace.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office, on Thursday January 10th 2019 arraigned one Momojimoh Abdumalik on a one-count charge of fraud before Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court, Akure, Ondo State.
A statement from the antigraft agency says Abdulmalik, a cashier with First Bank of Nigeria, is alleged to have fraudulently withdrawn the sum of N6, 963,929 from the Ondo State Revenue Collection account with the bank.
The charge reads:
“That you Momojimoh Abdulmalik while being a cashier in First Bank Plc, Owo Branch, between January to July 2018 in Owo, Ondo State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did fraudulently withdraw the aggregate sum of N6, 963,929.61 only from Ondo State Revenue collection account domicile at First Bank Plc, Owo Branch, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004”.
Abdumalik pleaded “not guilty” to the charge when it was read to him.
In view of his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Immaculate Elody, prayed the court to fix a date for trial.
Defence counsel, Idedayo Olanipekun, however, informed the court that he had filed an application for bail before the court. He pleaded with the court to grant his client bail as he was a first time offender and has been granted administrative bail by the EFCC.
Justice Abdu Dogo after listening to both counsel, adjourned to January 17, 2019 for “ruling on bail application” and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

Senator Dino Melaye has continued to sleep on the floor at the DSS medical facility in Abuja. Melaye who was whisked to the DSS medical facility last night, says he will not enter the DSS medical facility until he is told why he was moved from the Police Hospital in Abuja.
He has changed his shirt from the one he wore yesterday when he was brought to the facility.

The bottles of groundnuts, his shoes and empty water bottles are the only items missing in this new photograph.

APC shuts down official website after it got hacked

The All Progressives Congress(APC) on Saturday said its official website, apc.com.ng, had been hacked with unauthorised content posted on its pages.  

Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary, who disclosed this in a statement, said he had directed for the site to be taken down.
“Our attention has just been drawn to the fact that the APC’s official website, apc.com.ng, has been hacked with unauthorised content posted on our pages.
I have instructed that the site be taken down. Steps are underway to clean it up, strengthen the security and restore it as soon as possible. We won’t allow desperate people to succeed in their evil plots,” the APC spokesman said.

There was mild commotion today in Ikeja, Lagos, as traffic was brought to a standstill and mourners were filmed swinging a casket while noisily calling attention to themselves.
In the video shared online by Tony Krooz, the mourners can be seen carrying the casket while running and dancing with it as some others played different instruments, like the drum, and sang. 
People walking on the street had to run as the mourners approached with the casket.
Their parade led to traffic, and masquerades accompanying them went after the tricycle and motorcycle riders to extort them.
Sharing the video, Tony wrote:
Something just happened right now at ikeja.....who is the deceased? Royalty?? Cult member?? I mean....in broad day light and I see niggas swinging a casket back and forth while the masquerades forcefully collect or extort money from the tricycle riders. Why? Where is the law? Is traditional law the highest law in Nigeria??

Hon. Sumaila, appointed SSA resigned to contest for membership of the House of Representatives representing Sumaila/Takai Federal Constituency in Kano State under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His successor, El-Yakub, an APC stalwart from Kano State, was a member of the House of Representatives, 1998 and 2003-2007 representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency.

In a statement released via his Fly Boy Inc record label, the singer revealed that a new head of management, Rebecca Junaid and public relations personnel, Ogaga Sakpaide have taken over.
 
The label didn't give reasons for the change in management as reliable sources tells LIB that the Tumi Lawrence led team didn't see it coming.

'Make an extra effort to report actual, reliable information and avoid fake news stories' - President Buhari tells Nigerian media.


President Buhari on Wednesday called on the media in the country to make an extra effort to report actual and reliable information and avoid fake news stories.


Speaking during a courtesy call by Jamie Angus, the Executive Director of the BBC World Service at the State House in Abuja, President Buhari said facts must form the basis of all news reports.
He congratulated the BBC for the high reputation they earned through difficult times, such as the period of the Nigerian civil war. The President noted that by devoting time and resources to research into their stories before going public with them, “the BBC has earned a reputation for being an impartial news medium that is relied upon by the people for correct information about events and happenings.”


He commended their sacrifices in conveying news and information to the vast communities in Hausa across the Sahel region, and their recent commencement of broadcasts, from Nigeria, of news and programming in Igbo, Yoruba and Pidgin. The BBC team explained their plans for coverage of the upcoming elections in the country, including state gubernatorial debates.

The Emir of Lafia in Nasarawa state, Alhaji (Dr.) Isa Mustapha Agwai I has died at the age of 83. He died today after a brief illness.
The late Dr. Isa Mustapha Agwai I was born on February 15, 1935 at Kofar Kaura in Lafia town. He was selected by the Lafia emirate’s kingmakers on May 15, 1974 and was presented the staff of office by the then governor of Benue/Plateau state, Joseph D. Gomwalk, on October 26, 1974 at the Lafia stadium, now known as the Parade Ground.
He was the 16th Emir of Lafia, and celebrated his 44th coronation anniversary last year.
May his soul rest in peace, Amen. RIP.

MC OLUOMO WAS STABBED TODAY DURING APC FLAGS OFF

MC Oluomo stabbed, rushed to the hospital as APC flags off campaign in Lagos

There were gunshots and pandemonium on Tuesday as the All Progressives Congress, APC, flagged of campaign in Lagos for its governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other party flag-bearers in the state.

Popular area father, MC Oluomo was said to have been stabbed in the skirmish that occurred at the campaign ground.

The campaign was held at the Sky Power Ground, Oba Akinjobi Road, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Everything was going on well when a gunshot was heard at the podium where Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe, popularly known as ‘K1 De Ultimate’ was performing and thrilling the audience.

Sources said there was a skirmish between supporters of MC Oluomo and other transport unions, as series of gunshots rent the air, causing pandemonium at the Sky Power Ground.

NE gathered that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was addressing the crowd when the first gunshot was heard, sending panic among the crowd.
Ambode was said to have told the crowd that the police were in control of the situation, but things got worse as series of gunshots were heard.

The campaign was cut shot, as Sanwo-Olu could not address the crowd as he had wanted to. He only rushed the vote of thanks and dispersed the meeting.

Police officers were said to have engaged the hoodlums in gun battle as people ran helter and skelter to for their lives.

In the milieu that occurred, several people were stabbed and injured.

Pressmen covering the event were seen fleeing the scene to avoid being caught in the bloody clash.

Officers of the Lagos State Ambulance Services, LASAMBUS, were said to have conveyed about eight stabbed people to the hospital.

MC Oluomo was said to have been stabbed and rushed to the hospital.

A would-be thief got more than what he asked for when he made an attempt to steal from a professional female UFC fighter in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last Saturday night.
UFC president Dana White shared the photo above of the man who tried to steal the phone of strawweight Polyana Viana, and was left with a bruised and battered face despite the man's claim that he was armed at the time.
Sharing the picture of the two on his Instagram account, White called it a '#badf******idea'. 
The Brazilian fighter also revealed she landed him two punches and a kick while explaining how the would-be thief attempted to rob her of her phone.

'When he saw I saw him, he sat next to me,' Viana told MMAJunkie. 'He asked me the time, I said it, and I saw he wasn't going to leave. 
'So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. And then he said, "Give me the phone. Don't try to react, because I'm armed." Then he put his hand over [a gun], but I realised it was too soft.
'He was really close to me. So I thought, "If it's a gun, he won't have time to draw it." So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. 
'He fell, then I caught him in a rear naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, "Now we'll wait for the police."

The Oyo State Government has re-built Yinka Ayefele's Music House, Fresh FM that was partially demolished on August 19, 2018.


The State Government carried out the demolition claiming infringement of some building laws but after the media outcry and the condemnation from the masses, the story changed.

Months after the demolition, the Governor Ajimobi led APC government took up the responsibility to rebuild the same structure it demolished for violating state laws and now, Yinka Ayefele says 'Thank You' to the state governor.

Governor Bill Haslam of Tennessee has granted clemency to Cyntoia Brown, a 30-year-old woman serving a life sentence for fatally shooting a man in 2004 who had hired her as a prostitute when she was a teenage sex trafficking victim.  

A statement from the office of Governor Haslam said Ms. Brown would be released to supervised parole on August 7, 2019, after serving 15 years in prison. “Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16,” Mr. Haslam said in the statement.

“Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life. Transformation should be accompanied by hope. So, I am commuting Ms. Brown’s sentence, subject to certain conditions” he said.

Brown’s story had attracted national attention and widespread support from celebrities, including Rihanna and Kim Kardashian West, as well as lawmakers and rights activists who highlighted the years of abuse and forced prostitution that she endured in her youth.  

Her mother, who abused drugs and alcohol, placed her for adoption as a child, according to court documents. At 16, Ms. Brown ran away from her adoptive family and started to live in a motel with a pimp who raped her and forced her to become a prostitute.  In 2004, Johnny M. Allen, 43, a real estate broker, picked up Ms. Brown at a restaurant in Nashville and drove her to his home, after she agreed to engage in sexual activity for $150, court documents say.  

After they got into bed, Ms. Brown said she thought he was reaching for a gun to kill her. She later shot him in his sleep with a handgun from her purse, took money and two guns, and fled, documents say. Ms. Brown, tried as an adult, was convicted by a Davidson County jury in 2006 of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. She was sentenced to life in prison and would not have been eligible for parole consideration until 2055.

Under the executive clemency granted by the governor, Ms. Brown will be under supervised parole for 10 years, until August 7, 2029.

Embattled Senator Dino Melaye who surrendered to the Police authorities after an eight-day siege at his Abuja home last week Friday January 4th, has refused to leave his hospital bed for appearance in a Lokoja court over charges of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide.

Recall that Dino was rushed to the police hospital Abuja after he fainted at the police headquarters. He was revived of a suspected asthma attack before being taken to a Police hospital.
When Police operatives arrived to pick him up for trial today, Dino claimed he was sick and unable to stand up.
However, the police say Melaye is fit for trial after several tests conducted on the Senator came out negative, an indication that the Senator was not medically challenged as he claimed.

President Buhari has said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since 2015 consistently conducted free and fair elections, assuring Nigerians that his administration will uphold the standard by ensuring "non-interference''.
“We have insisted that votes must count and have maintained a policy of non-interference in elections,’’ the President said at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the International Conference Centre.
“INEC has so far since 2015, conducted fair and credible elections in 195 constituencies nationwide, which have been attested nationwide to be qualitatively better than previous elections.
“Let me reiterate my commitment to free and fair elections. If there is one legacy I want to leave is the enthronement of democracy as a system of government. And for democracy to be enthroned, elections must be free and fair. That means citizens have a right to vote,’’ he added.
President Buhari told members of the Presidential Campaign Council that, with 40 days to the elections, the task before the council would be herculean as they would have to cover all corners of the country to sell the achievements of the party in over three years, pointing out that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu would oversee all operations.

“I must also add that, though we will all be deeply involved, I would like to assure the nation that I will do my part without making governance or my work suffer. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my co-chairman, will be fully in charge, and he is going to be on 24-hour vigil,’’ he said.

President Buhari also noted that the operational buck of the campaign stops at Asiwaju Tinubu's table, urging all those in the leadership of the campaign, in the field operations on the campaign trail and in the secretariat to consult with Asiwaju whenever guidance was needed.

The President said the campaigns must be conducted with high level of decorum, urging the council to resist all forms of provocation and remain focused as they engage citizens on issues, while asking them to compare the results on economy, security and corruption with past administrations led by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

According to President Buhari:
“We have in the last 3 years and 6 months reversed this downward slide that the PDP took us in its 16 years of misrule. We have restored the territorial integrity of our nation, thanks to our gallant men and women of our armed forces. We are systematically engaged in all the remaining corridors of insurgency, kidnappings, robberies, herdsmen and farmers clashes.
“We have reset our national values: corruption is no longer condoned and is no longer seen as normal for public office holders. The agencies of government are no longer equivocal in dealing with anyone who flouts our laws.
“The high and low are receiving jail terms, loots are being recovered, and Nigerians are increasingly displaying the timeless values of honesty, honour and decency. I congratulate us all for making these changes possible.’’
The President said Nigerians can already testify to the infrastructural development across the country with prudent management of resources and the economy, listing roads, railways and improved power supply as signposts of a growing country.
“Our government has succeeded in the last four years in halting national drift, removing the shadow of insecurity and fear dominating our life and reviving our economy from decline to stability and growth,’’ he noted.

FG reaches agreement with ASUU to release N15.4bn for salary shortfalls
The Federal Government has reached an agreement with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve the on-going industrial action.  

Addressing journalists on Monday evening after the meeting with the striking lecturers in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the majority of their demands have been met including the release of N15.4 billion for payment of salary shortfalls.  

According to him, the Federal Government is also in the process of releasing another N20 billion for payment of earned allowances for university lecturers.  

Meanwhile, the ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the National Executive Committee of the union will review their decisions based on the new commitment by the government. According to him, it is only after that meeting of the ASUU leadership that the union will announce its position on the ongoing strike action.

It has been over two months since the union went on strike following the alleged inability of the government to respond to its demands.

'I am depressed' - Nigerian Naval officer cum comedian cries for help!





A Nigerian Instagram comedian popularly known as 'Ankara Gucci' who joined the Nigerian Navy in 2018 has cried out saying he's depressed.

According to him, 'I'm in serious pain. And I am in a great fear because I am not able to focus on my comedy career like before. I am typing this with tears and a lot of depression'.

Hello everybody. I need to talk to all of you. No much introduction. You all that are following me knows me already! What I love doing is comedy and to always make you laugh. You all know that. I never want to type this but I can’t just hold it anymore.
I'm in serious pain. And I am in a great fear because I am not able to focus on my comedy career like before. I am typing this with tears and a lot of depression. If not everybody. I know that some of you knows that I am a NIGERIA NAVY PERSONAL. but before I joined this job, I did not think so deep and I was carried away because of some lies I was told.
Let me keep that for now! I thought as I joined the job I would get more peace but not knowing that I actually sold my peace away. I thought I would be able to do my comedy and acting together with the navy job but it’s not just easy to cope with both. I joined this NAVY on the 7th of March 2018 if you remember very well and I come back to you guys on the 8th of September after I finished my 6month malicious training.
Those that knew me as a celebrity on the training ground those days called me a fool and told me I did not plan well before joining. I was just so depressed those days. And I moved on with faith. Because I just wanted to finished the training and know what next if I would be able to cope with my acting career and the navy. To say the fact . This job has given me a lot of respect but all the same. You guys don’t know wat I am feeling.
Let me tell you the truth. Not that I have the time. Some times I would just sneak out of my office and change up to do videos for you my fans just to remain consistent and never to make you forget Your ANKARAGUCCI. So these days, a captain in the Navy threatens me a lot and told me to pick one. Am I choosing navy or entertainment? That if I am to do the navy Job I must leave acting or else ........... or else what please? for what ? For crying out loud.
I can’t leave this comedy alone. It’s what I have passion for. I have a lot of advert skit now that I never shoot and I lost my Samsung s7 edge last week. I also lost my 31 skits on it .just need to get a solution ASAP. I am not an happy man

Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards which took place at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on Thursday night.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was named ahead of French footballers Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann to pick up the award for the fifth time. 
The Portuguese footballer who attended the event with fiancee Georgina Rodriguez and son Cristiano Junior, said: 'What better way to start the new year. Thanks for the appreciation and the care that I have received today.'

Other winners were Best Coach of the Year Didier Deschamps and Brazilian legend Ronaldo, who received a Player Career Award.

DJ Xgee's body laid to rest one day after allegedly committing suicide

The remains of Seun Omogaji aka DJ Xgee who allegedly committed suicide moments after leaving a suicide note on Instagram on Wednesday, January 2nd 2019, has been laid to rest.
DJ Xgee was buried today January 3rd.

He is survived by his wife of five years and they are blessed with two children.
May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Former YBNL star Viktoh tweets following his alleged assault by Police


Last night, Nigerian singer and rapper, Viktoh who was signed on to Olamide's YBNL for many years was assaulted by officers of the Lagos State Police command. 

In his first tweet after the incident, Viktoh said, 'I kept on tweeting and fighting against this police brutality but you guys ignored me now it has happened to me and someone is saying I never did something about it? This is sad'.

N50m Fraud: Former bank manager sentenced to seven years imprisonment
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of one Efe Egube, a former Bank Manager, to seven years imprisonment before Justice Atinuke Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.

The convict, who was a Branch Manager of the defunct Oceanic Bank, was arraigned alongside his company, Ocean Energy Trading and Services Limited, sometime in 2014 on a 19-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N50, 049,000.00, an offence contrary to Section 1(1) and (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other
Related Offences Act No. 14 of 2006.

Egube’s journey to prison began after the Commission received a petition dated February 6, 2013 written by A.A. Malami, SAN & Co. on behalf of Sanusi Kamba, owner of Aminu Gandi Petroleum Limited.

The petitioner alleged that between 2007 and 2008, the defendant used his position as a Branch Manager to facilitate the granting of a credit facility to the petitioner, which was disbursed in tranches.

The defendant was also said to have given the petitioner instruction to make payments into the accounts of some individuals and companies for the purchase of petroleum products to the tune of N50, 049,000.00.
However, the petroleum products were never supplied to the petitioner by the individuals and companies, thereby making it impossible for the petitioner to repay the loan when it became due.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, thereby setting the stage for his trial.
In the course of the trial, the prosecution presented six witnesses
and tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence by the
court against the defendant. The defendant, however, testified in his trial.
Delivering her judgment, Justice Ipaye convicted and sentenced Egube to seven years imprisonment on counts 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10,11,12, 13 and 17.
The sentences are to run concurrently from the day of conviction.
Justice Ipaye also gave a restitution order against the convict and his company "for the repayment forthwith of the total amount obtained by false pretence.”
